Code of Conduct for Businesses

This code sets the minimum behaviour standards for businesses using FindWork. It exists to protect students, support lawful hiring, and maintain a trusted local jobs platform.

Required standards

  • Provide accurate, clear job descriptions, duties, locations, and expected hours.
  • Include honest pay information and comply with all applicable workplace and youth employment laws.
  • Communicate respectfully with students and keep all contact professional and job-related.
  • Use the platform’s approved contact channels and keep records of recruitment communications.
  • Act promptly on safety concerns and cooperate with moderation or compliance requests.
  • Protect student privacy and only request personal information that is genuinely required for lawful hiring.

Prohibited behaviour

  • Posting false, misleading, or deceptive job listings.
  • Requesting upfront payments, deposits, purchases, or financial transfers from students.
  • Asking for banking, identity, or sensitive personal data before it is legally and operationally necessary.
  • Discriminatory language or decisions based on protected attributes, including race, religion, disability, gender, or sexuality.
  • Harassment, intimidation, coercion, threats, grooming behaviour, or inappropriate personal conduct.
  • Attempting to move conversations to unapproved channels to avoid platform oversight.
  • Advertising illegal, unsafe, exploitative, or age-inappropriate work for minors.
  • Using the platform for marketing unrelated products, schemes, or non-job spam.

Enforcement

Breaches may result in listing removal, account restrictions, suspension, or permanent banning. Serious matters may be escalated to appropriate authorities.
